The site in James City County known as The Church On The Main is a lost to time early Anglican Church site rediscovered by local archeologist Alain Outlaw and his associated colleagues more than 25 years ago. The annual service project to cleanup and refresh the site each year in conjunction with Earth Day has been named by Troop 103 as Andy’s Earth Day in honor of Troop 103 Eagle Scout Andrew Outlaw who passed away while in college about 25 years ago. Andrew completed his Eagle Project years ago in vicinity of the Church On The Main site and as the site was being cleaned up over the years, the annual project took on the name in honor of Andrew’s memory. There is also an annual Troop Nature award named and presented in honor of Andrew and what he meant to Troop. This year we had a great group of Scouts and adults come out to honor Andrew and to help clean up the site for the year. Mr. Outlaw came out and taught the American heritage merit badge which is something he has been doing for the past 20 years or so now for the Troop’s newest Scouts.
